Live remote research interview setup: moderator script, telephone, headphones, Ethnio live research recruiting too

As a researcher at Bolt Peters, I contributed my strong research instincts and analytical prowess to improving user experiences at the leading firm in the remote moderated usability field. I ran UX studies from end-to-end, recruiting test participants and moderating users one-on-one in their native environments via Ethn.io, Bolt Peters' remote user research software. I designed concepts, mockups, and architectures in response to research findings.

My creative and entrepreneurial skills benefited BP clients such as Harvard Business School Publishing, Harvard Business Review mobile, The New York Times, and VMware. Due to the confidential nature of our work, client projects can't be shown here, but a typical project went something like this:

  • Walking a client through their prototype or website, while listening to their concerns and issues around overall usability, users, business, use case scenarios, and testing goals
  • Designing a study based on live research, remote or in-person, to meet testing goals
  • Finding the right study participants through live recruiting methods, primarily ethn.io
  • Interviewing users that best fit who the client is targeting
  • Observing and recording users' desktop behavior and audio of the conversation while they are using the website
  • Analyzing the qualitative research data to fit client's business, technical, and strategic constraints
  • And finally, presenting research findings and recommendation deliverables to the client in a collaborative way. These recommendation reports might include video highlight clips, user flow sketches, wireframes, screenshots, and diagrams
