Hello! I'm a User Experience Designer bringing meaningful solutions to life for humans.

I build experiences and products that solve real problems for people and champion the end user. Bringing a blend of entrepreneurial, collaborative, right- and left-brained approaches to problem solving, I enjoy what I do. My mobile and web work spans diverse sectors including e-commerce, financial software, education, publishing, food, automobile, retail, and non-profit.

I'm currently a Senior UX designer in the Digital division at REI in the Seattle area. Previously, I worked on the team behind the 5-star iOS app Snap Payroll as a UX designer and researcher at Intuit. I'm also an alum of Bolt Peters, the late leading firm in remote user research. Prior to my design career, I was a qualitative researcher in nonprofit fundraising at San Francisco Opera. A retired semi-professional oboist, I studied Music Performance and Culture & Social Anthropology at Stanford University. Excited about designing for good, I co-founded TinyGOOD and worked with Project H Design, both volunteer design collectives in San Francisco. In my spare time, I enjoy hand lettering, discovering the outdoors, photography, cooking, and exploring cities.

I've shared my work at

What team members say

Catherine is awesome! First and foremost, I want to share that it has been a pleasure working with her. She’s an incredibly talented designer. When she joined the MSA team, she immediately changed the team dynamics in a positive way with her good attitude and passion. One aspect of Catherine that comes to mind as being especially impressive, is her ability to quickly understand who our customers are, and her desire to advocate for them. Additionally, she has been such a strong advocate for our team and supportive of our fellow store employees.
Working with Catherine is very enjoyable; our design sessions are very efficient and she is on top of her game. Our discussions are open, honest and frank, she wants to understand “how things work” in order to make the best use of it.
Catherine is an absolutely awesome research partner and teammate! She has built great relationships with everyone on the team, and is a willing and open-minded collaborator. She is always excited to jump right in and jam on ideas and research opportunities — she actively shares the many insights that her work uncovers to help the team iterate and improve.
